  • 4

Materials

  • 2 Frisbee
  • Kan Jam Can

Additional Setup Notes

  • Set the Kans up 50 feet apart
  • Teammates each stand at separate Kans so there is a member of each team at each Kan

Objective

Throw the frisbee at the Kan 50 feet away from you and with your teammate’s help either hit the Kan, get the Frisbee in the top of the Kan, or throw the Frisbee directly into the goal on the Kan. The first team to score 21 or more points wins.

Gameplay

Kan Jam is a four-player frisbee throwing game. Two teams of two players take turns throwing a frisbee at the “Kan”. One player (the thrower) from team A throws the frisbee aiming for the Kan while the other player from team A (the deflector) plays opposite the thrower, attempting to swat or dunk (“jam”) the frisbee into the kan, scoring team A points. The deflector is able to hit the frisbee one time in order to deflect the frisbee into the Kan.

Throwers must stand behind the Kan on their side of the field and deflectors can move around and hit the frisbee wherever they see fit to try and score points for their team. There are multiple ways to score points:

  • Dinger (1 point): Deflector hits the frisbee, and it bounces off the Kan
  • Deuce (2 points): Thrower hits the Kan unassisted
  • Dunk (3 points): Deflector hits the Frisbee into the top of the Kan
  • Done Deal (21 points): Thrower throws the disc directly into the goal in the front of the Kan
  • Interference (3 points): The opposing team interferes with the throw or deflection

If the frisbee hits the ground at any point before hitting the Kan, no points are scored.

The game is played in rounds. A player from Team A will throw the disc first and Team A’s deflector will try to redirect the frisbee into the Kan. The second player on Team A now gets to throw the frisbee. Team B will throw both after Team A. After all four players have thrown and deflected the round is over.

Endgame

When a team gets to 21 points or more the opposing team has a chance at “redemption”. One member of the team that is losing has a chance to throw the frisbee and get their team to 21 points or more. If successful one more round is played until there is a team with more points.

Do you have to use your hand to deflect the frisbee?

No! You can use any body part you want.

Can you play KanJam with two people?

Yes! Check out Kan Jam’s official rules and recommendations for 1v1 gameplay.
