Setup
To play Kick the Can, you will need a can or a small object that can be kicked, and a flat open area such as a playground or a backyard. One player is chosen to be “it” and is responsible for finding and tagging the other players. The other players hide and try to kick the can without getting tagged by “it”.
Scoring
The objective of Kick the Can is to be the last player remaining who hasn’t been tagged by “it”, or the player who kicks the can while “it” is not looking. The player who successfully kicks the can is safe and “it” needs to start counting again. The game continues until one player is left who hasn’t been tagged, that player wins.

Gameplay
The game begins with “it” counting while the other players hide. Once “it” finishes counting, they search for the other players and tries to tag them. If a player is tagged, they are out and must sit on the side. However, if a player is able to kick the can without getting tagged, they are safe and “it” must start counting again.
Endgame
The game continues until one player is left who hasn’t been tagged, that player wins. The winner gets to be “it” for the next round.
Variations and Alternate Rules
Kick the Can can be played with many variations, such as playing with different numbers of players, adding more complex rules, or different sized teams. Alternatively, you can play with different scoring method, like the first team to capture x number of players from the opposing team wins.
